Shoeless Trivia: Episode 23 (Mountains)

No real reason. Just a geography thing I haven’t done.

  1. The highest point in the contiguous US is what peak, found in the Sierra Nevada range?
  2. What is the tallest mountain in the Appalachian range? It is named for a UNC geology professor, not a slovenly Joe Don Baker character.
  3. Now for the inevitable South America question: The highest point in the Western Hemisphere is found in what country?
  4. The highest peak in Antarctica is named for what deceased US congressman, a Democrat from Georgia. Also named for this man is the aircraft carrier from whose deck Osama bin Laden’s body was buried at sea.
  5. Depending on exactly how the boundary between the continents is drawn, the highest peak in Europe is either Mont Blanc or what other mountain located near the border between Russia and Georgia.
